RISE UP!

LETTER FROM JAMES

Our vision at Cornerstone is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.  And we do that through evangelism, discipleship, fellowship and prayer.  Every ministry at Cornerstone is done through the filter of this vision.

The primary tool we use to accomplish this vision is our facilities and unfortunately half of our square footage has reached the end of its useful life.

We face a big problem, but the good news is we serve a bigger God. The Rise Up initiative is you and I standing up and moving forward together.  And as we link arms over the next 24 months, I believe God is going to show us mighty and amazing things.

My prayer for you is that as you follow Jesus, your sacrifice and steps of faith will lead you to a deeper trust and fuller experience of God’s presence and purpose in your life.

I hope this site will be a useful tool and resource for you as you prayerfully ask God how he would have you Rise Up and participate in this initiative.

And they said, “Let us rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work. Nehemiah. 2:18

WHAT IS RISE UP?

The Rise Up initiative focuses on funding both the two-year ministry plan of Cornerstone and closing the gap between the amount we will borrow and the estimated $4.25M cost of the construction of a new facility designed to enrich our church’s ministries now and for the next generations.

As we come together to Rise Up and glorify God, we will reach and empower more individuals to experience His love and enjoy a lifelong relationship with Him.

FAQ's

Please use this form for submitting questions regarding Rise Up.

The Building Team will review and provide answers here in this FAQ section.

Will we have to wait to complete the Rise Up generosity campaign before we begin building?

Lenders will require a certain percentage of the campaign funds are received before construction can begin.  Ultimately, the Rise Up initiative will move at the speed of our generosity.

How many adult SS rooms will we have in the family room?

Preliminary design shows 2 possibly 3 adult classrooms in the family room area.  Final number of adult class rooms will be determined during the architectural drawings phase of the project.

Will the awning over the exterior office door match the color/style of the new portico?

Final decisions regarding colors and styling etc. will occur at a later phase of the project, but we do want any exterior upgrades to present a cohesive unified design across our entire facility.

How will shut-ins hear about Rise Up and be given the opportunity to participate?

Through word-of-mouth, church email, YouTube sermon series & this website.

Will the existing children SS classes/preschool convert into adult SS classes? If not, where will adult classes be?

Final decisions on how best to utilize the current children’s SS rooms, nursery and Bannister Hall are still TBD.  But it is likely that some of this space will be used as future adult SS classrooms

What are the plans for our regular services while the construction is going on?

Our hope is that we can continue to hold services in the current sanctuary while construction on the new sanctuary occurs.  A final decision will need to be made with the builder once we get closer to construction.  Legacy Hall may have to be utilized at some point during this process.

Can individuals/groups do fundraising activities, to supplement the Rise Up initiative?

We will trust in God, not the secular world, to be the supplier of our needs. Thus we will not engage in fundraising activities outside of the church.

Will there be a sink with hot water in the bed baby/ toddler rooms?

The preliminary plans have a sink in each of the two nursery rooms. And two bathrooms in the childrens area.

Where will the baptistry be located?

Because of the extraordinary cost and square footage requirements for a permanent bapistry, we are looking at portable bapistry solutions that can be brought out on stage as needed.

Will the floor/ceiling between the basement (youth/children can get loud) and the sanctuary be sound proof?

Yes.  This is a topic that has been discussed with the architect and builders and will be incorporated into the final design/plans/

Who will be able to see my Rise Up commitment card?

All giving at Cornerstone (including commitment cards) is viewed by two people, the treasurer and bookkeeper.  The pastor,  staff, elders, deacons etc. do not view individual giving or commitment cards.

A disciple does not ask, “How much can I keep?” but, “How much more can I give?” Whenever we start to get comfortable with our level of giving, it’s time to raise it again.
